Pre-dynastic history

Pre-dynastic history

Archaeological evidence suggests that Egypt was inhabited by hunters over 250,000 years ago when the region was green grassland. The Paleolithic period around 25,000BC brought climatic changes which turned Egypt into a desert. The inhabitants survived by hunting and fishing and through a primitive form of cultivation. Desertification of Egypt was halted by rains which allowed communities of cultivators to settle in Middle Egypt and the Nile Delta. These farmers grew wheat, flax and wove linen fabrics in addition to tending flocks. The first indigenous civilizations in Egypt have been identified in the south of the country through archaeological excavations. The Badarian culture is the earliest known developed Egyptian civilization based on farming, hunting and mining. Badarians produced fine pottery and carved objects as well as acquiring turquoise and wood through trading.

The Naqada lived in larger settlements about 4,000BC and produced decorated pottery and figurines made from clay and ivory which indicate they were a war-like people. Naqada artifacts from 3,300BC show further development both in terms of culture and technology. Evidence of irrigation systems and more advanced burial sites, as well as the use of alien materials like lapis lazuli, indicate a cultural diversity and the development of external trading.

Throughout most of its pre-dynastic history Egypt encompassed a multiplicity of settlements which gradually became small tribal kingdoms. These kingdoms evolved into two loosely confederated states: one encompassed the Nile valley up to the Delta (with the Naqada dominating) with ::I as capital, represented by the deities Seth and White Crown; the other encompassed the Delta, with ::I as its capital and represented by the deities Horus and Red Crown.

The two kingdoms vied for power over all the land of Egypt. This struggle led to the victory of the south and the unification of the Two Lands in 3100BC under the command of Menes who is also known as Narmer. This was the beginning of the dynastic period of the Pharaohs.

Yoga in Egypt

Yoga in Egypt

Yoga is a Hindu spiritual practice & discipline focusing on breath control, meditation, and the adoption of specific body postures -reflecting incredible flexibility-, practiced for its health and relaxation effects.

People mistakenly believe that all yoga workouts are the same -I myself thought so- before I started to practice its different types -still I am not good with the names, and types-, however I noticed that some of them require agility, others focus on increasing flexibility, and some others are all about controlling your breathing, mind and thoughts.

To practice yoga and meditation around Egypt, to go beyond borders for a yoga retreat, or to learn how on how to improve your spiritual life, homeopathy –a medical philosophy and practice based on the idea that the body has the ability to heal itself-, energy and crystal healing.

Windsurfing in Egypt

Windsurfing in Egypt

Egypt is an excellent place to windsurf for all skill levels. The climate is generally hot and dry most of the year. A common place for tourists generally, the entry requirements are not very expensive or difficult to follow. One simply has to purchase an Egyptian visa which can be done at the airport. Its strong winds and waters bring people from Europe and all over the world to windsurf in Egypt. Anyway, lets get to it! Here is our list of where to windsurf in Egypt.

Dahab, Egypt

Dahab is considered one of the best locations to windsurf in Egypt. Not only does it a boast a range of nice hotels, but is recommended for all kinds of windsurfers. Dahab is a common area for water sports of all kinds on the holidays including scuba diving, kitesurfing, wakeboarding, and water skiing. The wind in Dahab makes it gusty near the shoreline and is best in the mornings. Because of its calm waters in the afternoon, Dahab is also an excellent location to teach kids how to windsurf.

Safaga, Egypt

With its long wide beach, some say Safage is a better spot than Dahab. Just like Dahab, this location also boasts excellent conditions for all windsurfing skill levels. The lagoon area is best for beginners with its flat water and weaker winds.

Near Safage is Toubia Island, a small sandy island which is only 2.4 mph from the shore. The environment provides some beautiful scenery and waters for sailing. However, windsurfers should also know that Safaga does not have strong waves.

Soma Bay, Egypt

Soma Bay is an excellent space for beginners especially. However, bear in mind this is a luxury location. However, if you’re able to afford it, it boasts reliable winds and a gigantic lagoon for windsurfing. The southern side features many calmer waters for windsurfing beginners mostly, but overall the entire area is safe and within windsurfing distance. The super flat conditions of the bay allow for smooth winds.

The Soma Bay is thus recommended especially for beginners unsure where to windsurf in Egypt, but its smooth winds would also be suitable for intermediate windsurfers who want to gain more confidence in their abilities.

Hurghada, Egypt

A well-staffed windsurfing school and community is established at Hurghada. In 2015, the area opened a new windsurfing school at the Mercure hotel and there are plenty of shops for equipment. The best months to windsurf in Hurghada would be during the summer time, where there is reliable wind most of the year.

Therapy trips Egypt

Therapy trips Egypt

Egypt is rich Country with Natural Therapy in different places and great climates all year, each with unique atmosphere and it is natural resources as right treatment against different diseases,

Siwa Oasis natural Therapy

located in the western desert, 300kms to the west of Marsa Matrouh North coast & 800 Km from Cairo. It is Egypt’s natural healing centers, this is doubtless the most attractive to the tourist, with its moderate climate, unpolluted air and clear blue sky.

There are a number of healing centers in Siwa Oasis, of which the most important is Al-Dakrour Mountain, ( Gebel Dakrour ) 3 km south east of Siwa .Which has been renowned for the healing qualities of its hot sands since ancient times, as well as for being a major source of the red pigment used in Siwaan pottery.

People come from all around Egypt and the world during the summer months to be interred in sand baths which have properties of healing rheumatism. The sand bath lasts approximately 20 minutes and you are buried up to your neck in the hot desert sand; the process is usually repeated for any aching part of the body for 3 to 5 days. The therapy is stunning; it has almost a magical effect, rheumatic and arthritic pains will be greatly dissipated. After the heat of the sand you will need a few hours to recover, it is recommended that you sit in a shady place and drink tea. Many of those who experience the healing properties of Gebel Dakrour’s sand baths return time and time again to heal their pains.

The mountain is famous of relieving rheumatism, joint pains and general weakness. Several aged sheikhs are responsible for treating patients suffering from these ailments by burying their bodies in sand. The cure takes place during the summer at specific times of the day: immersion can last from quarter to half an hour, daily for two weeks.

Siwa also has hot springs which have been proven effective for the treatment of psoriasis, rheumatism and diseases related to the digestive system

Safaga City

located south of Hurghada on the Red Sea and it has become, over the past years, a world-renowned destination for Climatotherapist patients. Here in Safaga the sea water is very salty, containing 35 % more salt than other seas: treatment with this water can produce a big improvement in the circulatory system, thus increasing the flow of blood to the limbs and skin. The water has been shown to provide significant alleviation for sufferers from psoriasis and the high density of ultraviolet rays in the area also helps cure a number of other skin diseases

The enormous efforts made by Menaville Safaga Resort to scientifically explain the phenomena of Climatotherapy at Safaga resulted in unprecedented achievements in that field. Accordingly, Menaville has been fitted with all means of comfort to help patients to enjoy their stay in excellent hospitality conditions.

The solarium area in Menaville is fenced and divided into four isolated sections; two for women, and two for men, to ensure patients’ privacy.

Menaville Resort provides medical follow up for patients that includes sort of case study for the patient to decide the suitable medical course, and to determine the duration and timing of using Black Sand or Sun Bathes .

Why Climatotherapist in Safaga? Although, there are other places around the world that provide Climatic Therapy, yet scientific researches on Safaga area approved that many natural factors in Safaga make it the most appropriate area of therapy for Psoriasis and Rheumatism diseases.

The Researches of the National Research Center (NRC) in Egypt, on the geographical nature and Seawater in Safaga area displayed the following:

The high mountains surrounding Safaga City act as a natural defense against wind and sandstorms. This feature on one hand makes the climate is pure from any suspended stains that divert and absorb the Ultra Violet Rays, which is the basic element in Psoriasis therapy, and on the other hand, the fresh air helps to heighten the immunity system.

The beach in this area takes the shape of a bay; so there is no high waves and the quiet water surface reflects the Ultra Violet Rays to the land

Due to the excessive existence of corals, the saltiness of Water is 30% higher than other seas, and this leads to:

A ) Increase in water density and decrease in gravity , so bodies float easily on the water surface and the blood circulation improves . Hence more amount of blood reaches the skin, which helps in curing skin diseases.

B ) Balance in saline concentration inside and outside the human body that affects the therapy positively.

The analysis of the black sand in Safaga showed that the sand contains three radioactive elements: Uranium, Thorium and Potassium, and they exist in sensible rate. There are other elements such as Salts and Minerals especially Gold Salt, which is mostly effective in Rheumatoid therapy. Also, it is known that black sand is useful in curing acute and chronic Arthritis, Joint Edema, Joint Effusion and skin inflammation.

Comparing to the other sites that provide Climatotherapist, Safaga has remarkable advantages like:

The permanent sunshine throughout the year, is a main factor of Climatotherapist.

On the contrary, there is no sunshine during autumn and winter at those areas.

Sea level location; which means safe climate for most patients. While other Climatotherapist sites located under sea-level, and this affects the patients suffering from heart, liver, and kidney diseases, Tuberculosis, Hemorrhoid, Arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, Epilepsy, and Nerve-diseases negatively.

Rarity of Bromine; contrary to the Red Sea water, the other seawaters contain high concentration of Bromine, which causes allergy presented by redness and itching, that may lead to severe skin suppuration.

Lake Nasser Fishing trips

Nile Perch Fishing Holiday in Egypt

Lake Nasser

In the 1960 a dam was built on the Nile at Aswan, the resulting lake Nasser has flooded over 6,200 square kilometers of the Nile Valley, creating one of the largest man made lakes in Africa. The fish population of the original river was presented with a huge lake to live and have thrived in their new habitat, specially the tilapia and their predators, Nile Perch, tiger fish and the big catfish.

Lake Nasser has the best Nile Perch fishing in the world, aside from terrific angling, the lake is a lovely place to visit. It's a magical wilderness of stunning desert scenery, bordered by the clean water of the lake, which is dotted with rocky islands, there is an atmosphere of tranquility, vastness and adventure; a wilderness where anglers literally have hundreds of square miles to themselves.

A fishing safari on lake Nasser is as close to the real meaning of the world safari as you are likely to find – a style of mobile camping that combines comfort with the incredible experience of being out of the real wildness.

The weather is nearly always sunny and bright, the local residents are Bedouin camel and sheep herdsmen who are occasionally seen grazing their flocks on the sparse vegetation at the edge of the lake.

Most anglers who visit the lake Nasser for the first time will catch the biggest fresh water fish of their life.

Most Camps are located on clear sandy beaches and where ever possible close to shore fishing area. At Night in camp under the desert star, one hears all sorts of sounds frogs, crickets, owl ……etc.

The Area we fish are extremely remote and you will be completely cut off from all civilization.

There are more than 100 species of birds have been recorded, in most areas there are crocodile and monitor lizards, other types of wild life.

 Best time of fishing

Season A:  From February to end of July

From approximately mid March through to the end of July the Nile perch are found in Shallow water.

Season B: From Mid October until end of January.

The lake is at its highest level and the Nile perch are found in deeper water. If u want to capture the big fish then season b is your best bet .season A will provide you with more action and fun but the average size of the fish capture lends to be Similar.

+ please take into consideration that the months of April & May – October & November re very high season and are often booked up will in advance .

October to May

From mid October to April the evenings can be cold and at night temperatures might drop to 8c. Remember to bring warm sleeping bag. The day temperature from april to June are similar to warm summer in Europe .

June to September

The weather is dry and hot. In the middle of the day temperatures average about 30c but can reach 30+ but can reach 35+. on the lake the temperature is always a few degrees lower due to the cooling effect of the large body of the water

Safari Start point

We start our safari from either the high dame at Aswan or from Garf Hossein witch is 160 kilometers south of Aswan. Safari that start from Aswan involve a fifteen- minute bus ride from Either Aswan airport (or hotel) to the high dam where we meet the boats. We normally travel, in the fishing boat, for two or three hours to reach the best fishing areas and then start the safari.

Garf Hussein is on the west bank of the lake Nasser and about 11/2 hour road journey from Aswan.

Time spent trolling

Your Nubian guide is expected to troll for at least 8 hours a day. The main reason for a eight hour trolling limit is that it is hot and tiring work trolling under the desert sun; anther reason is the fuel supply. We have reserves but have to be careful, as there is no fuel available on the lake.

Shore Hazards

Loose, fragile rocks pose the greatest personal hazard on Lake Nasser,  as a matter of precaution always wear shoes and always look where you re walking, take care when shore fishing and wear shoes with a Grip .

It is always advisable to go shore fishing with another person if u are going out of sight of camp. Don't swim while you are shore fishing. There is a slight risk of crocodiles that might not have been scared off by your quiet approach.

Note:

  • Lake Nasser area has been a desert for thousands of years , which mean there is no wild life
  • The scorpions found at the Egyptian desert are not fatal but their string is very painful. They live under rocks by day coming out by night. As a precaution always wear shoes at night and if you put any thing down on the ground always pick it up carefully. Never leave open bags on the shore at night .
  • There are snakes in the desert, if you see a snake don't panic, instead calmly back a way slowly and let it go on its way.

Boat safari

A boat safari is similar to the old style African safari where cross country vehicles are used for game viewing and traveling and are supported by a large truck carring the camping equipment. Each boat is fitted with a long-rang fuel tanks. A 12v lighting system, a fish finder, scales up to 200Ib and plenty of storage area for your equipment. The bow deck and stern decks provide ideal casting platform and there is an all around deck in case a quick maneuver is needed when a big fish takes a dive under the boat.

Each boat has on board sleeping facilities with two dunks that have full size single mattress. At night the cabin can enclosed by canavas , providing a cozy sheltered sleeping area

  • Each boat is fitted with a fish finder and weighting scales up to 220LB

ship (supply boat)

Mother ships are an essential component of a well organized safari until and enable comfortable camps to be set up to close to the best fishing area. There is a plenty of space to relax and have sit down meals. All are fitted with a toilet and shower, a built in kitchen, and large icebox to keep drinks cool. The mother ships carry all the provisions, fuel, cook, service staff, helpers,

The style of cooking is a blend of western tastes and Nubian cuisine .

The style of camping is comfortable and safe but still maintains the adventurous atmosphere of being out of the wilds

Steals boat

Seals boat provide anglers with an alternative fishing platform to fish areas quietly and efficiently, it can be quietly drifted or rowed over underwater promontories or past rocky drop-offs.

A stealth boats hold only two people, if you want use one on your own, its important you have the experience to handle small boat.

There are three types of steels boat

Kestrel:  is a steel hulled boat and has a 25 HP engine. Which is ideal for quite trolling cost 25 £ per day.

Rahma: is a glass- fibre speed boat with a 55 HP engine . this has a great advantage of being able to travel at up to 30 MPH between fishing grounds, which is about travel 4 times faster than our normal fishing boat . this saves traveling time and gives you a lot more concentrated fishing .

King Fisher   is a glass – fibre dingy with a 10 HP engine  she is very light and quite and can fish hot spot like a ghost .

A Nile perch of 75 LB can be up to 15 years and when they reach to 100 LB they are in the vicinity of 20 years old. These big fish are the main breading fish and if we kill them we are wiping out future sport on lake Nasser.

  • It is important to have the correct fishing tackle to take on Nile perch which can cause unbelievable damage to Lures, hooks and spilt rings . if necessary you can arrive in Aswan for your fishing holiday with no tackle at all and have total confidence that we provide you with all you need.

About Guide and Safari Staff

 - You will accompanied with a good fishing guide with a hunting instinct and a genuine feel of fishing, speaks at least three languages.

-  All the safari staff and guides are Nubians who are the people who used to inhabit the Nile valley before it was flooded by the lake Nasser. The Nubian has have a proud and rich heritage, they existed long before the pharaohs, they have a relaxed way of life compared to the fast life we lead in the western world.

Nile Perch

Nile Perch are the largest freshwater fish in the world, researches shows that the Nile  perch have a better chance of reaching record sizes in lakes than river system.

Tiger Fish

Tiger fish abound in the lake. And the several species the most common is Hydrocynus forskalli that can grow to 16 Lb.

The size and strength of a Nile perch is one thing but for sheer sport on light tackle a tiger takes a lot of beating. A tiger can leap clear of the water and throw your hook, break wire trace, rattle swivels to bits, and generally wreak havoc on tackle.

Cat fish

There are 18 species of catfish in the lake of which two are  of interest  vendu and Bagrus. Cat fish can be caught whilst trolling but you have the much better chance ledgering for them at the night with bead bait.

Catfish forage along the shoreline looking for food that has been washed up on the beach. When using dead bait at night only cast the bait 2 to 3 meters from the shoreline don't cast out into deep water.

Visibility & Temperature:
Seasonal temperature changes play a big part in determining visibility. Winter tends to be the period of best visibility in Northern Red Sea areas with waters too cool to support algae and plankton growth. Conversely, in the South, it is the summer, which offers best visibility as the blistering hot surface temperatures translate into sea temperatures too hot to support the growth of marine microorganisms. No matter where you dive in the Red Sea blooms of plankton growth can crop up at any time bringing the visibility down. Fortunately these are rare occurrences and the normal visibility is excellent ranging from 10-50+ meters.

Emergency Facilities:
Most diving centers and live aboard vessels maintain supplies of medical oxygen and first aid kits.
Also, Sharm El Sheikh, El Gouna, Hurghada and Marsa Alam run their own recompression chambers.
